BELKIN’S ADVERTISING AND COOKIES POLICY

 BELKIN’S ADVERTISING AND COOKIES POLICY

Belkin uses automated data collection tools such as cookies, embedded web links and gadgets.  These tools collect certain information that your browser or mobile device sends to Belkin sites and Belkin products.  This policy explains how we use these tools and what choices you have about them.

We use common tracking techniques

We collect personal information about users of this site, our applications and our services over time from different devices and platforms.  In this practice, the “platform” covers our website and mobile applications.  We also cooperate with third parties who collect personal information in these ways.  We use several common tracking tools to collect data.  Our suppliers may also use these tools.  These may include browser cookies.  We may also use web beacons, flash cookies and other technologies.

We use tracking technologies for a variety of uses

We use tracking tools, including cookies, in our platforms.  Cookies are small files that are downloaded to your device when you use certain platforms.  We use tracking tools for the following purposes:

  •  Identifying new and old customers.
  • Saving your password and registration information if you have registered with our platform .
  •  Identifying the user’s country and language and distinguishing the user from other users of the Belkin Sites.
  • Optimize your browser experience by preloading certain features of Belkin sites and services on future visits to speed up download times and site usage.
  • Providing basic operating environment functions and improving the operating environment.
  • Providing interest-based or targeted advertising.  (Learn more about interest-based advertising below.)
  • Long-term monitoring of usage habits and browsing behavior across devices or other platforms.
  •  Enabling social sharing.
  • Increasing our knowledge of the interests of our customers and users visiting our environment.

When online tools collect your personal information, the processing is based on our legitimate interest in delivering and improving our products and services and in maintaining our customer relationship.

We take advantage of interest-based advertising

We and our partners display interest-based advertising based on information collected about you over time on different devices or in other platforms.  These can be websites and applications.
Interest-based advertising, or customized advertising, may contain ads that are displayed to you after you leave our platform and are intended to return you to the platform.  They may also be ads that we believe may be of interest to the page based on your purchasing habits or online behavior.  Ads can be displayed on websites or applications.  They may also be emailed to you.  Ads may come from us or from third parties.  They may apply to our products or the products of other companies.

Collection of information for interest-based advertising

We will identify your interest by taking advantage of the information you have provided in our dealings with us, our subsidiaries or other third parties.  We collect this information using the tracking tools described above.  We may work with our partners to track your purchases or browsing behavior, for example.  Tracking can take place in our operating environments or in the operating environments of others.
We work with a number of third parties to help gather this information.  These third parties may associate your name or email address with other information they collect.  Such information may be, for example, your purchase history online or elsewhere.  Another example is browser usage information.

You can manage your tracking tools

Your browser has features that allow you to control the collection of cookies.  The method of management varies depending on the type of cookie.  Certain browsers have the ability to block browser cookies.  Learn more about enabling, blocking, and deleting cookies in your browser here and here.  Learn more about managing the use of flash cookies in certain platforms.  Why?  Because flash cookies cannot be managed in browser settings.
Our tracking blocking policy Some websites have Do Not Track features that allow you to block tracking on that site.  These functions are not uniform.  We are not currently responding to such signals.  If you block cookies, some features of our environment may not work.  Blocking or denying cookies does not stop all of the tracking methods described here.
Some of the settings you choose are browser and device specific.

You can opt out of online behavioral advertising

The Self-Regulatory Program for Online Behavioral Advertising provides consumers with information on how they can prevent the recording and use of online usage information for advertising purposes.  Learn more about banning online behavioral advertising on participating companies’ websites here.
Some monitoring tools are not included in the Self-Regulatory Program for Online Behavioral Advertising.  For more information about how to disable the collection of information about online behavior through these tracking tools, see the links in the “We use special tracking techniques” section.
The tool provided by the Digital Advertising Alliance allows you to prohibit the collection of data used by interest-based advertising between applications on mobile devices.  You can choose which of the participating companies you allow by downloading the AppChoices app here.
Some of your choices are browser- and device-specific .
